Yoshiki Soa, a professor at the University\u2019s Cardiovascular Surgery Unit, and his colleagues aim to use pluripotent stem cells in treatment by transplanting cardiac muscle cell plates over a three-year period to 10 patients with serious heart failure caused by cardiomyopathy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/yemen-solar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/2e99c89d-9fba-47a7-9786-8e38bc648c9d.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-268\" srcset=\"https:\/\/yemen-solar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/2e99c89d-9fba-47a7-9786-8e38bc648c9d.jpg 768w, https:\/\/yemen-solar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/2e99c89d-9fba-47a7-9786-8e38bc648c9d-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\">As a first step, the team performed successful surgery on one patient this month and the patient has since moved to the general ward of the hospital. Cells on the biodegradable platelets that attach to the patient\u2019s heart surface are expected to grow and secrete a protein that can regenerate blood vessels and improve heart function. Multipotent stem cells have already been derived from healthy donor blood cells and stored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-paragraph\">Each leaf is about 4 to 5 centimeters long and 0.1 millimeters thick. One hundred million cells have been transplanted.
